Sri Lanka is an Island country in the Indian Ocean Southwest of the Bay of Bengal. Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte is the legislative capital and the commercial capital and largest city is Colombo . The highest point is Pidurutalagala reaching 2,524m above sea level. Sri Lanka has 103 rivers and the longest is the Mahaweli river extending 335km. The climate is tropical and warm due to the moderating effects of ocean winds.
